Hello, my name is Richard Isles, LPC, and I usually go by Rick. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Arizona.
I believe therapy should feel real, supportive, and focused on meaningful change. I work with individuals navigating substance use concerns, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and the stress that comes with trying to hold life together while feeling overwhelmed on the inside. My goal is to create a space where you can be honest about what’s going on without judgment—and where we actively work toward solutions that improve your day-to-day life.
Many of my clients come in feeling stuck in patterns of worry, self-doubt, unhealthy coping, or relationships that leave them feeling drained or disconnected. Some are struggling with substance use or behaviors that started as ways to cope but now feel out of control or misaligned with their values. Others feel guarded socially, have difficulty setting boundaries, or find themselves overthinking everything and losing confidence in their decisions. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s driving these patterns, and build healthier ways of thinking, coping, and connecting with others.
My approach is collaborative and practical. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Rational Living Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR to help clients understand their thoughts and emotions while developing real tools they can use outside of sessions. We work on identifying cognitive distortions, strengthening emotional regulation, building healthy boundaries, and replacing destructive coping habits—including substance use—with strategies that actually support your long-term wellbeing. I have been told by my colleagues and clients that I am supportive, easy to approach, and passionate about helping.
When working with trauma, I integrate CBT and EMDR to help clients safely process painful experiences and reduce the emotional intensity connected to those memories. Clients often notice increased calm, clearer thinking, and greater confidence in navigating relationships and everyday challenges.
I believe therapy should be individualized, goal-oriented, and empowering. Together, we create a plan that fits your life and your values while building the emotional skills needed to handle stress, improve relationships, and feel more confident moving forward.
If you’re looking for therapy that is professional, supportive, and focused on real growth—whether you’re working through substance use, trauma, anxiety, or other mental health challenges—I provide a respectful space where change feels possible and progress feels achievable.
