Hello, I’m Carlos Williams. I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker and a licensed therapist in Arizona.
I earned my BS in Youth Leadership from Brigham Young University, got my Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University, and am currently in a doctoral degree at Grand Canyon University in Education/Behavioral Health.
I have aided clients for 30 years with psychotherapy and case management services. I realized I had a passion for counseling at the age of 16 years old, as this is when I began working with younger youth providing leadership and mentorship in a recreational setting.
My ability to listen presently and intently to the experiences of my clients supports my strengths of being empathetic and mindful. I use my sense of humor to empower my clients to be self-aware and motivate them to take action to change and grow beyond what they realize is possible. My goal is to help my clients find their meaning, purpose, happiness, wellbeing, recovery, and enlightenment.
I have worked with many different populations such as youth, veterans, those considered SMI, aindividuals struggling with addictions, general adults, and those with varying cultural backgrounds. I have worked in settings such as hospitals, clinics, outpatient/inpatient programs, crisis centers, and health coaching practices. My clinical experience includes anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, addiction, personality disorders, relationship conflicts, and more. The modalities I use most often are Motivational interviewing, Brief-focused, Solution-focused, Existentialism-meaning/purpose driven, spirituality/Christian therapy, crisis therapy, strength-based, person-centered, Trauma focused CBT, substance use therapy, and cultural competency.
In my spare time I enjoy studying spiritual concepts, reading, gaining knowledge, exercising, watching/playing sports, and comedy shows/movies. I am excited to assist you on your journey of wellness, tranquility, and action towards allowing yourself to be who you desire to be.
