About Cindy

Home About Cindy

Welcome, I’m Cindy Penka-Shack.

My work as a therapist gives me the opportunity to help people make positive changes in their lives. I work in a gentle and supportive manner to assist individuals and families in clarifying and working through their struggles and pain. I have the utmost respect for my clients, as they have found the courage to seek help in overcoming their pain. It is an honor and a privilege to assist my clients on their journeys to a happier, more gratifying, and content life.

After over 20 years of being a therapist, I am still passionate about helping people overcome the obstacles and problems they are facing. Throughout my career I have worked with people on many issues including: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, addiction/substance abuse, stress management, and sexual abuse. Currently, I do a lot of work with postpartum and prenatal issues, helping new, expectant, and adoptive parents, work through the difficulties they are experiencing.

While in graduate school at The State University of New York at Albany, the focus of my studies was on clinical social work – learning therapeutic theory and methods. After completing my MSW degree, I worked in the field of sexual abuse, helping families to heal from their traumas. Later, I worked in the field of addictions, as a Chemical Dependency Specialist. Following my move to Phoenix, Arizona, I went from being a therapist at a local family service agency, where I worked with individuals, couples, and families, to becoming clinical supervisor, and then clinical director. Throughout my career I have gained expertise in Strategic Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.

If you are in emotional pain, feeling stuck, helpless, or hopeless, take the first step and make an appointment. Let’s work together to break down the obstacles that prevent you from living your best life.
