Hello, I am Docia Rojel (pronounced Doh-see-uh) and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona.
I have a passion for learning people’s stories and helping them navigate the past things that make them who they are. I find joy in helping people discover their strengths and how to utilize those strengths to be successful in their lives. I greatly enjoy spending time getting to know my clients and building a relationship with them through the process of therapy.
I began my career completing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University. I always knew I wanted to work in a helping field. I began working for the State of Arizona with the division of developmental disabilities. While I enjoyed working in this field, I knew I wanted to do even more. This led to a desire to become a counselor and I quickly worked to obtain my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.
I utilize a person-centered approach where I focus on all aspects of an individual’s life. I utilize theories derived from Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and try to provide trauma-informed care to the best of my ability. I also have training and experience providing EMDR therapy. Some areas of focus for me include working with issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, traumatic experiences, and relationship-based issues. I see couples on a case-by-case basis.
Outside of my role as a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading any type of fiction I can get my hands on and going to the movies.
