Hi, my name is Nicole Rogers and I am a licensed independent substance addiction counselor (LISAC).
For many years, I worked in a fast-paced environment where success was defined by metrics, meeting deadlines, and achieving financial goals. But as time passed, I found myself craving more meaningful connections focused. During this time, I was also helping people in my life who were struggling with addictions and mental health issues. I came to a profound realization thatI was drawn to helping people navigate the complexities of their emotions and struggles. That experience planted the seed for my career in addiction therapy.
My passion for counseling stems from witnessing how transformative therapy can be for my clients. I remember one of my early clients who struggled with substance abuse, shame and guilt. During one of our sessions, an “a-ha moment” occurred when they were finally able to come to terms with their past trauma, something they had carried for years. It was in that space of vulnerability and trust that I realized I have found my life calling. That moment wasn’t just special because they were able to take a step forward, but because I had earned their trust to guide them through it. It’s moments like these that reinforce my passion and dedication to the field of counseling.
When I feel a powerful bond with a client, there’s a sense of mutual understanding and empathy that transcends words. It feels like walking alongside them in their journey, holding space for their pain, and celebrating their victories, no matter how small. There’s a deep sense of fulfillment in knowing that someone feels safe enough to be their truest self in our sessions.
I know it’s a good fit between myself and a client when we can communicate openly, and they feel comfortable being vulnerable without feeling judged. When there’s a sense of collaboration and shared purpose in the therapeutic process, it strengthens the relationship and leads to more productive work together. We don’t just connect on an intellectual level, but also emotionally, creating a space where real healing can occur.
Outside of my work, I find great joy in spending time with my family. Whether it’s sharing meals, playing games with my kids, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, these experiences keep me grounded and remind me of what’s truly important. Family time helps me recharge emotionally and stay connected to the values of love, support, and patience—qualities that also inform my work as a therapist. It’s in these moments that I find balance, which allows me to return to my practice with a refreshed perspective and renewed energy.
