My name is Sarah and I am a licensed master social worker. I received my bachelor’s in social work and master’s in sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Through my education and post-college experiences, I found that people need a safe place to be heard and a partner to embrace life’s challenges. I desired to be more effective and take a larger role in helping others. This led me to return to school where I earned my master’s in social work at Arizona State University. I have worked with people that have been challenged by addiction, trauma, and a diversity of other mental health issues.
Through personal reflections, I understand the fear and bravery it takes to address issues that block us from being our best self. My relationship with a client is the most important aspect of being effective as a therapist. I am genuine, empathetic, a good listener, and non-judgmental. I accept you as you are and will challenge you to grow at your own pace. I believe that people are the experts of their own lives and am always humbled that they choose me to assist them in their path through life. I want clients to know that they are more than their diagnosis and social labels. We are all human and deserve a life free from suffering. As a therapist, it is important that clients listen to their instincts and be open to discussing them, be willing to build trust with me, and feel a sense of relief after a therapy session.
My life consists of more than being a therapist. In my private life, I enjoy spending time with my family/friends, gardening, and boating. I love nature and am always amazed by the resilience of plants and animals. This serves me as a reminder that we all can overcome challenges and grow where we are planted.
I look forward to meeting you, hearing about your experiences in life, and discovering how I can best help you.
