Hello, my name is Shanika Hunter and I am a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker/LMSW.
I grew up back and forth from Seattle and San Diego. I completed my undergraduate degree at University of Nevada, Las Vegas where I obtained my Bachelor’s in Criminology. I then went back to school, where I obtained my Master’s in Public Administration from National university and my Master’s in Social work from Simmons University.
I started my career working for the Department of Child and Family Services. I continued working in various non-counseling positions such as support coordinator and residential group home supervisor working with the DDD population. I’ve also worked in many crisis-oriented positions with the crisis line and local behavioral health hospitals, which is where my passion to help support and build others up really grew. This is where I began to hone in on my clinical skills and realized that I wanted to help people before they even get to that crisis phase.
As a therapist I like to offer a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to grow. I will walk alongside you in this journey. I like to create individualized treatment plans for each client that is driven around their unique needs, and I do this by trying to see things through the lens of my clients.
In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends. I like to explore new places in my community and try things that are outside of my comfort zone. I love to travel and learn about other cultures. One of my goals is to visit the seven wonders of the world.
