Hi my name is Sherita Riley and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor.
I am originally from Hartford, CT and went to undergrad at University of Hartford where I obtained a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. I then furthered my education and obtained my Masters in Human Services and Professional Counseling.
When I started my career, I worked in various non-counseling positions, such as inhuman services, where I advocated for my clients’ needs. After a while, t decided counseling and making a difference was the right place to be! Working with each individual and seeing how I was able to see a positive impact to help with challenges of daily living showed me the true passion I have with counseling. I often received feedback of how genuine I was when listening to others while providing insight on how to maneuver through life difficulties. This encouraged me to continue to do what I love and continue my career in counseling.
I have worked with individuals with SMI, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem from adolescence, teens, and adults. Often, I hear that ” I don’t think I need counseling or it’s difficult to talk to someone I don’t know.” But as long as you have the support and trust in the process, then it can be accomplished.
I offer a safe non-judgemental environment where I allow you to be yourself. Life can be challenging. However, seeing the growth throughout your sessions is inspiring to create the momentum in change. My approach is to meet you where you are and guide you through a process in which you can find meaning, purpose, joy, and stability in your life.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, trying new restaurants, and reading.
