Hello, I’m Maryanne Stich and I am a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor in Arizona.
I received a Bachelor of Science in General Business Administration at Arizona State University and a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management in my early twenties and pursued a career in Management.
Years later, I returned to school and I pursued my Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling at Grand Canyon University, graduating in 2013. I wanted to understand the topic of addiction, with its capacity to destroy lives and relationships, yet also encourage people to turn their life around and live with purpose and meaning. I started passionately working alongside clients and their families at various treatment centers in the Valley. I have extensive experience working with a range of clients from teens through adulthood. Since addiction is a disease that effects the entire family, I have learned extensively how to include family members in the treatment model to create sustainable recovery for my clients.
I am trained in both Basic and Enhanced ART, a Gestalt based therapy designed to overcome intense emotion tied to trauma and other maladaptive behaviors. I believe therapy is about educating and processing with my clients. We learn and process about chemical and behavioral addictions. This includes codependency, understanding family dynamics and its role in addiction, the neurobiology of addiction, cognitive distortions, and developing multi-faceted relapse prevention plans to sustain life-long recovery.
I strive to help my clients create a life that has purpose and meaning through creating intentional change. I help clients discover what is underneath their addiction, whether that is trauma, grief, fear of change or family dysfunction and work through it and discover a life worth living sober. I help clients overcome feelings of guilt and shame, deal with the “stigma” of addiction and get back on a path of success. This is all done by making changes in your world, one step, one day at a time.
I am an avid fitness enthusiast, mom, and owner of a Golden Retriever named Remington. I love my incredible life and feel very blessed to be able to work with my clients and their families. I look forward to connecting with you in your journey through intentional change.
